Wool Crazy Quilt Embroidery Class

Arts and Spirituality Ministry brings another wool embroidery and embellishment class with Elizabeth Rybicki to Good Shepherd in September. This time the group will take a prepared wool applique block and do the embroidery on it. The crazy quilt pieces will already be appliqued, so that the group can get right to the fun part – doing the embroidery. Elizabeth will be teaching the basic embroidery stitches used by our ancestresses on their crazy quilts. No experience is necessary, this class is for all experience levels.

Each person will receive the pattern including stitch placements, prepared wool applique block and backing, rod and wooden beads to turn the block into a small wall hanging, their choice of threads from her collection of Valdani and DMC threads, needles, a small book of embroidery stitches, scissors, thimble plus lunch will be provided. The $30 cost includes kit, supplies and lunch. Kits come in two colorways, one multicolor and one in blues and greens There are a total of 18 kits available and there will be 2 class dates of 9 students per class. Please see the bulletin board for the embroidered crazy quilt, the colors available and the dates of the classes.

Come and join the Joyful Stitchers for another adventure in hand embroidery and embellished wool applique, fellowship and sharing a meal together. Class will be from 9:30 to 3:00 (or earlier if we finish sooner). It is anticipated that stitchers will take home a finished crazy quilt that day.
